A wide variety of musicals opened on Broadway in 1978,
including ‘Ain’t Misbehavin,’ a jukebox musical, which featured the music of
Fats Waller. ‘On The Twentieth Century’
was a hilariously spectacular satire on the 1930s, theatre people and operetta
music. ‘The Best Little Whorehouse In
Texas’ brought country music to Broadway and the revue-like ‘Working’ focused
on various professions and the people who work in them.
Songs in this program include ‘This Joint Is Jumpin’ (‘Ain’t Misbehavin’), ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ (‘The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas’), She’s A Nut’ (‘On The Twentieth Century’) and ‘The Mason’ (‘Working’).
